It's spring!  The bees made it through winter.  They are flying on warm days and bringing in pollen.

Did you know there are over 4,000 different types of native bees in the United States?  And over 1,100 of those bees are found in Utah.  All of these bees help pollinate fruits, vegetables, flowers, trees and shrubs.  One of our local native bees is the Mason or Orchard Bee.  It is exceptionally helpful in pollinating fruit trees.  The Orchard Bee is deep metallic blue and carries pollen on it's underside.  Next time you see a fruit tree in bloom, get close, stand still and look for a blue bee.
